MTG Star Trek: First Look at the Set, Release Date & Autographed Cards

Magic: The Gathering is heading to the final frontier. Wizards of the Coast just gave fans their first real look at Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek, revealing cards, mechanics, and the full product lineup ahead of its November 13, 2026 release.

The Headline Story: Autographed Cards Signed by the Actors

The biggest reveal is that this set includes chase cards autographed by the actual Star Trek actors who played the characters. Seven Star Trek actors individually signed headliner cards for this set — each one a portrait card of their character, hand-signed, and randomly inserted into Collector Boosters. This is a first for Magic — no previous Universes Beyond set has included cards physically signed by the source material’s actors.

What’s Confirmed So Far

Captains as Legendary Creatures — Iconic Star Trek captains, starting with Captain James T. Kirk, are being adapted as mythic rare legendary creatures anchoring the set.

Spacecraft return — The Spacecraft card type, introduced in 2025’s Edge of Eternities, comes back to represent the Star Trek fleet’s iconic starships.

Dilemmas — a new mechanic — Modal cards that let you choose among multiple options, echoing the moral and tactical decisions that define Star Trek’s storytelling. Confirmed dilemma cards include Set Phasers to… and Consider the Prime Directive.

Sagas as episodes — Saga enchantments are being used to adapt individual Star Trek episodes, with each chapter mirroring an episode’s progression.

Stardates bonus sheet — A bonus card sheet called Stardates, legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage.

Seven of Nine — Confirmed as a main-set card that rewards playing Dilemma cards, drawing you a card when you do.

Product Lineup

The set ships as a full-scale release, including:

• Play Boosters and Collector Boosters
• Welcome Decks and a Beginner Box
• Draft Night Box
• Scene Boxes
• Four new Commander decks, plus a Collector’s Edition

Why This Set Matters

Star Trek is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and this collaboration is shaping up to be one of the biggest Universes Beyond releases yet — closer in scope to the Lord of the Rings set than a smaller crossover. With signed cards, a full Commander lineup, and mechanics built specifically to capture the show’s identity (Dilemmas for moral choices, Sagas for episodes), this is designed as a genuine celebration for Star Trek fans as much as Magic players.

Magic is also bringing the collaboration to Star Trek Las Vegas: Trek to Vegas this August as presenting partner, with themed experiences planned ahead of the November release.
