MTG Star Trek: Release Date, Prerelease, Products & Signed Cards

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek releases worldwide on November 13, 2026, with Prerelease events November 6–12. It’s the last major Magic set of 2026, a Universes Beyond crossover celebrating 60 years of Star Trek, and it brings a first for Magic: cards physically signed by the actors who played the characters.

Set Codes and Format Legality

• TRK — The main Star Trek set, legal in all formats including Standard.
• TRC — The Star Trek Commander set, legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage.
• SDS — The Stardates cards, also legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage.

Play Boosters contain cards from TRK and SDS, and those cards are playable in Star Trek Draft and Sealed when opened from Play Boosters. Individual cards from TRC and SDS are also legal in any format where they’re already legal.

Mechanics and Card Types

Dilemmas — A new modal mechanic. Dilemma cards let you choose among several options, echoing the moral and tactical choices that define Star Trek. Confirmed Dilemma cards include Set Phasers to… and Consider the Prime Directive, and there’s a Face a Dilemma mechanic to go with them.

Seven of Nine — A main-set card that rewards you for playing Dilemma cards by drawing you a card.

Federation and Assimilate — Two more mechanics that debuted at the First Look, representing Starfleet and the Borg.

Spacecraft returns — The Spacecraft card type from Edge of Eternities comes back to represent Star Trek’s starships. The U.S.S. Enterprise-D lets you exile cards and play them when charge counters are put on it.

Captains as legendary creatures — Iconic Star Trek captains, starting with Captain James T. Kirk, anchor the set as mythic legendary creatures. Kirk is a red mythic with a hellbent-style theme and three modal effects to choose from.

Sagas as episodes — Saga enchantments adapt individual Star Trek episodes, with each chapter mirroring the episode’s progression.

The Signed Headliner Cards

Seven Star Trek actors individually signed this set’s headliner cards. Each is a textless portrait of the character, hand-signed and randomly inserted into Collector Boosters of any language, always printed in English. Wizards says there are approximately 250 copies of each of the 7 signed cards.

Other Collectible Treatments

• Stardates cards (SDS) — 30 cards that bring powerful cards from Magic’s history together with Star Trek moments. Traditional foil Stardates cards appear only in Collector Boosters.
• LCARS frames and shock lands — All 10 shock lands appear in the set, which is good news for Standard players.
• Classic Enterprise cards — 24 cards.
• Scene cards — Borderless cards that connect across multiple cards to depict scenes from across Star Trek’s generations, in two Scene Boxes.
• Beam Me Up Bundle promo cards — Exclusive to that bundle.

• Commander Decks — Four decks of 100 cards each, 30 of them new to Magic, with 10 double-sided tokens: Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury, and We Are the Borg. Klingon Fury is a Mardu (Black/Red/White) deck led by Worf, Lieutenant on the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, and Spock is the face commander of another.
• Collector’s Edition Commander Decks — The same four decks with Surge Foil treatment.

Wizards’ Star Trek season runs from the Prerelease window on November 6–12 through January 28, 2027, with a Commander Party, the “To Boldly Go” Sealed league, weekly Standard Showdown, Two-Headed Giant Commander Night, Magic Academy, and Friday Night Magic.

Why This Set Matters

Star Trek is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and this crossover is built to feel like a celebration for Star Trek fans as much as for Magic players: Dilemmas for moral choices, Sagas for episodes, a full Commander lineup, and the first hand-signed cards in Magic’s history. Magic was also a presenting partner at Star Trek Las Vegas this August.
