Riftbound Vendetta: Complete Set Guide (July 31, 2026)
Vendetta is the most anticipated Riftbound set yet — and it drops July 31, 2026. One week away. If you’ve been waiting to get into Riftbound or you’re an existing player looking to understand what’s coming, this is everything you need to know before launch day.
What Is Riftbound Vendetta?
Vendetta is the fourth expansion set for Riftbound, the League of Legends trading card game published by Riot Games and UVS Games. It’s the first set in Riftbound history to release simultaneously in English and Simplified Chinese — a milestone that signals Riot’s commitment to unifying the global player base and removing the months-long gap between regional releases that plagued Origins and Spiritforged.
Release date: July 31, 2026 — worldwide simultaneous release
Set number: Set 4
Theme: Character rivalries and personal vendettas across the League of Legends universe
The Vendetta Theme
As the name suggests, Vendetta focuses on character rivalries — the personal conflicts and scores to settle that run throughout League of Legends lore. Jinx and Vi. Jayce and Viktor. Shen and Zed. These aren’t just flavor connections — the Overnumbered cards in this set can form cohesive scenes when placed next to their rival’s cards. It’s a visual and mechanical design choice that rewards players who know the lore and collect for story as much as competition.
New Champions in Vendetta
Three champions headline the Vendetta set based on confirmed box art and Riot announcements:
Akali
The Rogue Assassin. Akali is one of League of Legends’ most popular and visually striking champions — a former member of the Kinkou Order turned ruthless assassin operating in the shadows of Ionia. Her gameplay in League centers on burst damage, mobility, and executing isolated targets. Expect her Riftbound card to reflect those same strengths.
Ambessa Medarda
Making her Riftbound debut. Ambessa is one of the most compelling characters introduced through Arcane — the mother of Mel Medarda, a powerful Noxian general with a ruthless political and martial philosophy. Her introduction in Vendetta alongside Mel creates obvious thematic connections for players who watched Arcane.
Mel Medarda
Also making her Riftbound debut alongside her mother Ambessa. Mel is a Noxian diplomat and one of Arcane’s central characters — calculated, politically astute, and operating with hidden strength. The mother-daughter dynamic between Ambessa and Mel gives Vendetta one of its most compelling narrative threads.
New Products in Vendetta
Showdown Decks — Shen vs Zed
Vendetta introduces a new product type called Showdown Decks — two preconstructed decks featuring rivals facing off. The Vendetta Showdown box features Shen vs Zed with two complete precon decks plus a couple of booster packs included. This is the spiritual successor to the Champion Deck products from previous sets and appears to be replacing the standalone starter deck format going forward.
Best for: New players who want to start playing immediately, existing players who want to explore new archetypes, gift purchases.
Booster Packs
Standard Vendetta booster packs contain 14 cards including 7 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rare slots, 1 foil slot, and 1 rune/token slot.
Booster Display
24 booster packs per display box. The standard buying unit for collectors and competitive players.
New Mechanics in Vendetta
Riot has confirmed that Vendetta introduces legends for new color pair combinations for the first time in Riftbound history. This is a significant mechanical expansion — new color pairs mean new strategic archetypes that haven’t existed before in the game. The full details of which pairs and what they enable will be revealed during the Vendetta preview season leading up to July 31.
The rivalry theme also introduces mechanical interactions between rival cards — Overnumbered cards that form cohesive scenes when placed side by side with their counterpart. Whether this is purely cosmetic or has gameplay implications remains to be fully revealed.
What to Buy at Vendetta Launch
For Competitive Players
Wait 48–72 hours after launch before buying singles. The early post-launch period always sees inflated prices as players react to opening weekend results. Let the first weekend of tournament data land, check Riftbound.gg for the emerging tier list, then buy the singles that are performing rather than speculating on what might be good.
The new color pair legends are the highest-priority singles to watch. New archetypes always create demand spikes in the first two weeks. If you can identify which new champion is enabling a strong new strategy early, buying in before prices peak is the smart move.
For Collectors
The Ambessa and Mel Overnumbered Signature variants are the headline collector targets for Vendetta. Both are Arcane characters with massive fanbase crossover — people who have never played a TCG will want these cards purely because they love the show. Akali Signature variants will also be highly sought after given her popularity across the League player base.
The rivalry-themed paired Overnumbered cards are worth watching — if the visual design is as compelling as Riot is teasing, the best paired sets could become display pieces that hold collector value independent of competitive play.
For New Players
The Shen vs Zed Showdown Deck is your entry point. Two complete decks, included booster packs, and two iconic rival champions to learn with. Buy the Showdown box, play a few games straight out of it, then use Riftbound.gg to start exploring what other champions and decks exist before investing in singles.
For Openers
Vendetta is the first simultaneous global release — which means there’s no Chinese market price discovery ahead of the English launch this time. Nobody knows what the pull rates feel like or which Overnumbered variants are in this set at a higher rate than others. Opening weekend is genuinely exciting and completely fresh.
The 2026 Riftbound Roadmap — What Comes After Vendetta
Radiance (Set 5) releases October 23, 2026. K/DA themed — Seraphine and Evelynn confirmed, Ekko confirmed, strong hints of a broader K/DA musical theme. If the Arcane connection drove Vendetta interest, K/DA’s massive music following could do the same for Radiance.
Four sets per year is Riot’s confirmed cadence for 2026 and beyond — keeping the game fresh and giving players and collectors a regular content cycle to engage with.
